Oversaw the development, release, and management of RightHereOnce, an online sound archive and geospatial mapping system made accessible through GPS mobile mapping technology.  This mobile audio website investigates urban spaces and community identity by collecting, connecting, and presenting archives, historical documents, images, websites, and articles, as well as audio files developed from close examinations of spaces, community experience and research.

 

2014-present Independent Project Consultant

Provide project management and consulting services for a variety of public and community projects in Richmond, VA, including: Bridge Park RVA (a proposed public park to be built on an abandoned train bridge across the James River in downtown Richmond) and Made in Church Hill (a collaborative art project which will be exhibited at the Valentine Museum, January –June 2015).

2015    Project Manager, Find Art Doors
Provided project management for the establishment of a city-wide art exhibition in coordination with Virginia Supportive Housing and Art on Wheels.  Managed the facilitation and permitting of the event and artwork through the City of Richmond Administration, the Planning Commission and The Public Art Commission as well as located 40 partners city-side for support and site selection.  

 

2013-2016 Curator of Sculpture, RVA Street Art Festival

Duties include: project manager and curator for sculpture exhibition at the 2013 and 2015 Street Art Festivals; serve as liaison with site managers; oversee installation of work; fundraise; oversee dispersal of funds to artists from donors.

 

2014 Exhibitions Manager and Coordinator, Depot Gallery
(Three month contract position)
School of the Arts, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia

Oversaw the initial opening of a newly renovated gallery and interdisciplinary space, including managing the inaugural exhibitions. Included: purchase, inventory, and maintain gallery tools, supplies and technology; coordinate security access for faculty, staff and students; art installation; supervise gallery working; coordinate project and events calendars.

 

2010-2013 Assistant to the Director – Information Technologies, Graduate School Office

Duties included processing digital graduate applications, using Sunguard Banner and ImageNow systems; assisting director with maintenance to all computer systems in Graduate School office, including hardware updates and software installation. Served as main administrator for the Graduate School’s social media presence (developed presence, created content, oversaw feedback).

The VCUarts Visual Resource Center housed approximately 600,000+ slides used for teaching and research purposes. Under my leadership the Visual Resource Center initiated a digital online image databank for use by VCU and VCUarts staff, faculty, and students. Responsibilities included: Managing physical image collections, including: cataloguing, verification, rights and reproduction; administering incoming gifts; and developing circulation policies; Managing office accounts and agreements for VCU patrons and community partners: Creating housing system for digital data on servers/external hard drives; Managing the image databank: scanning images; applying metadata; implementing cataloguing system

As head of the department, I also: drafted annual reports; supervised a staff of 6-10 employees year round; served as personnel administrator and hiring manager; served as fiscal administrator and purchasing manager.

Proficient in/familiar with: LUNA Insight; ArtStor; MDID (Madison Digital Image Databank); Adobe Creative Suite; Sunguard Banner; Microsoft Office Suite.

 

2008-2010 Chair of Commission (Volunteer), Richmond Public Arts Commission

The job of the Chair of the Public Arts Commission is to oversee all policies, events, documents, projects, and proposals, along with keeping the mission and ordinance of this city board affluent to the changing landscape of the city and the changing faces of city administrations. Highlights include; Overseeing the development and implementation of large-scale city-funded projects; Managing installation, project descriptions, budgets, artists proposals, call for participants, and commission documents; Working with city departments to implement projects (Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation, Public Utilities, Public Works, Planning and Development Review, the Tree Commission, Economic Community Development, Budget and Strategic Planning, Finance, and at times the Mayor of Richmond, Virginia

2005-2006 Co-Founder/Co-Director/Co-curator, Richmond Outdoor Sculpture Invitational, Richmond, VA

Running two consecutive years, the Outdoor Sculpture Invitational was an exhibition of temporary public sculpture that took place in the economically depressed Manchester district of Richmond, Virginia. Each installation remained a focal point for the district and the city for three months each year.

The NYMASA Institute is hosted by the Department of Technology, Culture and Society (TCS) in MAGNET.   MAGNET, which stands for Media and Games Network, is an interschool facility at New York University's Brooklyn location. It links faculty and students interested in the intersection of culture and technology from NYU programs in Tisch, Steinhardt, and Courant with TCS's program in Integrated Digital Media.

Institute workshops included The CUNY Graduate Center New Media Lab, the New York Public Library Digital Collections, The Museum of Modern Art, and the Lower East Side Tenement Museum Digital Collections.
